Everton are not that desperate for a defender that they will call Stoke City defender Phil Jagielka, the Potters man has joked.
The Toffees find themselves 16th in the Premier League standings, just two points above the relegation zone, after a 3-2 home defeat to Brentford. Currently managed by Frank Lampard, they have shipped 24 goals since the ex-Chelsea midfielder took charge on January 31.
Their need for defensive improvements have become widely known in recent weeks with the Toffees sliding down the Premier League table. Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey are out injured, while Jarrad Branthwaite was sent off against Brentford, leaving Mason Holgate as the only fit senior centre half.

When Sky Sports presenter Dave Jones joked that Jagielka should expect a phone call from Lampard as he looks to solve his defensive issues, the Potters defender jokingly replied: I dont think theyre that desperate!
Jagielka has been a mainstay in the Championship this season, featuring 20 times for Derby County before a January move to the Potters where he has made another 20 appearances. The 39-year-old continues to display his experience and quality on a regular basis.
